We took them there and they conquered. Mt Kilimanjaro at 5895m (19340ft) high is the highest mountain in Africa and the world's tallest free standing mountain.
Kilimanjaro....the roof top of Africa
Northern Tanzania holds the jewel in the crown when it comes to African mountains. Kilimanjaro is the highest free standing mountain in the world, and the so called 'Roof of Africa'. Situated in close proximity stands another great mountain - Mt Meru. Follow links below to find out how Shidolya can take you there!
Marangu Route (huts)
Machame Route (tents) Without doubt the most spectacular route up the mountain with stunning sightings of the rim’s glaciers
Rongai Route – (huts) The route looks over Kenya & the Taita Hills

Londrosi/Shira Route – (tents) A fairly easy route covered in 5 days instead of 6. Great glacier views. Sites include the ‘Cathedral’ & ‘Needle peaks’.
Umbwe Route – (tents & huts) Spectacular views, this route offers you the opportunity to camp on the crater rim!
Walking excursions to the Moorlands & Forest areas are also available on request.

Day 2: Second days walking, covers about 15km (5-7) hours. After a short walk, emerge from the forest belt on the grasslands to Horombo Hut (3750m).
Day 3: A hard day's climb to Kibo Hut (4700m) covering 13km over (6-7 hours) crossing terrain of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. Here take a chance to relax on arrival as the next stage begins shortly after midnight (01.00 am). This falls on day 4.
Day 4: Early start around 01.00 with frequent stops to catch breath in the thin starlit air. This is the steepest and most demanding section of the climb. This takes 5 hours to reach Gillman's point (5681m) to see the sun rise behind Mawenzi. Another 45 minutes walk around the crater and up to the highest point Uhuru Peak (5895m) the summit of Africa. Descend down to Horombo Hut.
Day 5: It is a much easier day as we have the luxury of walking down hill on the way to Marangu Gate for transfer to Arusha / Moshi.

Shidolya provides an excellent 3 Day Climb with a professional guide and armed ranger (there are wild animals here!) Good boots and warm clothing are a must.

Health Requirements For Hiking & Climbing:
For those wishing to climb either Meru or Kilimanjaro you should be in good physical condition. The key with Kilimanjaro especially is patience and it is suggested that you take your time to acclimatise. One should be wary of Altitude Sickness when ascending, and your professional guides are well versed in ensuring that all safety needs are monitored and dealt with.
Altitude sickness affects people when they ascend above around 2500m. There are no hard or fast rules as to who it will affect. The way to stop it getting worse or to combat mountain sickness is to descend. Mild symptoms vary from lethargy, head aches, dizziness and loss of appetite. There are certain things that you can do to prevent acute mountain sickness:
Ascend slowly
keep hydrated: drink lots of liquids, as dehydration can occur by loss of water by sweating and breathing
Avoid sedatives and alcohol
Shidolya's professional guides will ensure that all necessary steps are taken to ensure that you do not develop acute mountain sickness, and in the event of sickness, will deal appropriately with any given situation.

Then off to Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater with guide Isaac – got to be the best in the business!" Brian and Clay - USA.
"We have just come back from Kilimanjaro. We cannot be recognised under all the mud we have been Swimming in today. We did the Machame route and it was really tough. The fourth night when we climbed to the top was the hardest night of our lives. Now when we are here it feels incredible that we have done the Mountain! Four of us reached the Uhuru peak, one Stella point and one got mountain sickness and had to go back. We would like to thank Shidolya for helping us with everything on this trip, special thanks to Eduardo and Simon who guided us to the top. Thank you" Lotta - SWEDEN
